Campbell's birthday fell on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day this year. Campbell was actually born on a Monday, MLK Day, the day that President Obama was inaugurated. So it was fun to tell her about that since her birthday once again was on that holiday.
We of course started the day with breakfast in bed. Cute Campbell had to wake me up and remind me, but then patiently went back to bed and waited while we made it. She is cute like that!
Grandma came into town for a few days so she could be here to help us celebrate sweet Campbell, and there was no school, so we took the kids to a fun new trampoline place that just opened up called Get Air. Even though I had Grandma with me, and Aunt Jenny met us there and helped out too, it was still really crazy! The place was crowded and Cal was in heaven but was go-go-go the entire time and didn't want to follow the rules. But I think the kids had fun, even Campbell, so that was good.
Then we went to lunch at Chick-fil-a. It was actually a beautiful day -- the first one in weeks -- so we enjoyed eating outside.
It was so nice of Aunt Jenny to come and spend her day with us. She sure loves Campbell.
That night we had Campbell's favorite food for dinner -- Crepes! It worked out perfectly since we usually have breakfast for dinner on Monday nights!
Then it was time to open the family presents. Calvin loved helping Campbell open all her presents.
Then it was time for cupcakes. Again, Cal was right up in the action with Campbell. We had to sing to Campbell several times because we couldn't get the video recording to work, which Cal LOVED because he got to help Campbell blow out the candles several times!
And since we hadn't gotten a picture of the birthday girl with her sweet Grandma who came into town to be with her, we had to get a pictures of Campbell and Grandma before she went to bed, even though they were both in their jammies!
Campbell looked so cute in her Elsa dress that she got for Christmas. Such a darling princess.
We got the house all decorated and nice for the party while Dad had Cal out of the house.
We made necklaces first.
All the cute girls with their necklaces. They turned out great.
Then we played a couple of games, like Pin the Tiara on the Castle
and Musical Princesses.
After the games, it was time for the Tea Party. Sam and Bennett served the girls snack foods and treats, like crackers and fruit and pink lemonade.
After the Tea Party, it was time for the cake. Campbell was thrilled -- have I mentioned she really loved her imperfect Barbie cake?!
After cake it was finally time for presents. Campbell took her time with each gift, read the cards, and was genuinely excited about each of her gifts and remembered to express gratitude. It was awesome. She is awesome.
And then the party was over. I'd say it was a definite success because Campbell was completely darling and happy the entire time.
I LOVE my Campbell Caroline. She is darling. She makes us giggle. She loves to make us laugh. She is doing so well in school, learning to read really well already and learning new things every day. She is sweet. She loves people and wants to get along with everyone. She is sensitive and so soft and kind hearted. She still is such a picky eater and only eats a handful of foods. She is still loving dance class and is the cutest little dancer I know. She has such a cute voice -- I love to listen to her sing. She and Reagan are still best friends, as long as Campbell lets Reagan take the lead in what they play and how they play! Campbell hates to brush her teeth. She insists on me reading her a book before she goes to bed, no matter how late it is. She often forgets to bring shoes when we go places. She loves baby Will and calls him her twin. She loves boys and always has a crush on someone. I think she will always hold a special place in my heart because she is my baby girl. She is loved by everyone, especially our family. Happy Birthday, Campbell Caroline. We love you to the moon and back.
