Grandma arrived the Thursday before Thanksgiving, just in time to attend Campbell's Thanksgiving Feast with me on the last Friday before the break. Campbell made for a very cute Native American.
So glad Grandma could come. We even brought Cal. He wasn't great, but oh well.
Campbell and one of her buddies, Vanessa.
That night, Grandma took Elle and two of her best friends to see Mocking Jay. They all enjoyed it.
Sunday was Stake Conference. Grandma stayed home with Cal, so the rest of us actually got to listen to the entire meeting. Revolutionary, I tell you. But 2 hours is long for all of us, especially kids, and Campbell resorted to the fetal position to get her through the last 30 mins or so.
William looking cute the day after Thanksgiving. He was enjoying our one-on-one time, which we were having because. . . . .
the day after Thanksgiving Sam and Grammie and Grandpa took all the kids except for Will on a weekend road trip. Since I didn't actually attend, Ellery is going to take over this post momentarily and blog about the trip:
Hello everybody. So first we went to the Clemson Football stadium - called the Frank Howard field as depicted.
You know SEC college football is way too intense when there is a guy with a gun protecting the rock Clemson players touch for good luck before a game. Seriously, it was weird.
Calvin got the honor of touching the rock - the man with a gun dared not deny Calvin.
Another man was next to the rock banging a steady beat on a drum that said "BEAT USC", Clemson's rivalry team.
Next we went to a river with some great bridge - Grandpa Miller being an engineer had to stop and check it out.
To start the evening, we went to the Carl Sandburg home. Carl Sandburg was a famous american poet who wrote lines such as, "The fog comes on little cat feet" and, "Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance" and other confusing things like that.
Calvin holding bunch of stuffed goats and deer. We weren't sure what the big deal about the goats were, but then we asked and found out his wife had a lot of goats or something like that. It was very strange
Trying to get a good family fence picture
and this was the best we could get
We concluded the day by going to the hotel the Vanderbilts' built way back when. It was freezing, but we got hot chocolate so it was all good.
The guy in the back was intrigued by Calvin and took a picture of him (just kidding, he was obviously taking a picture of me).
We then headed to the hotel and called it a night but the next day we went to Clingman's Dome in Smokey Mountains National Park which we had visited a few months earlier for Bennett's birthday. In May, it was not snowing.
I think Calvin's face asked the question everyone else was too polite to ask: Why would you bring us here, dad?
Yeah he was pretty miserable near the end, but it was a good trip. Thanks for reading my style of writing everybody everybody! For more of my own posts visit my blog: 46statesandcounting.blogspot.com
Back to me. Uncle Matt was fun to have around and spent a lot of time playing our piano. Someone should.
William enjoying a new blanket Grandpa Allen got us on one of our several Costco runs. Grandpa loves getting us stuff at Costco almost as much as he loves his new grandson.
Grandma and Will
Grandpa Allen out on a walk on the Nature Trail with Reagan and Bennett.
And Grandpa playing basketball with Elle and Bennett.
We are so grateful that we had our grandparents and Uncle Matt and Haley come and be with us for the Thanksgiving break. It would have been so very boring without them!
