Reflections 2013: Believe, Dream, Inspire

Last year Ellery entered the Reflections contest in the Film Production Category, and ended up winning 1st Place in the County!  So she decided to enter again this year, and Reagan wanted to enter as well.  Ellery was calculated in the categories she entered, choosing Photography and Musical Composition because she knew there wouldn't be a lot of entries which increased the likelihood of her winning.  Reagan entered Visual Arts, and ended up bringing home three papers instead of just one.  So the afternoon Reagan sat down to create her work of art, Elle decided to use one of the extra papers and make a Visual Arts entry as well.  Well, that was one more paper left, so Bennett picked it up and started working on a drawing also.  He was adamant though that he DID NOT want to enter Reflections -- that he was just making his drawing for fun.  But his drawing was awesome, and after much persuading I finally convinced him he should enter as well.  So all three of my Settles Bridge Stars entered the contest this year.

The Reception was this Wednesday, and we were anxious to see how the kids did.  Here are their entries, laying out on the display tables:

Elle's Piano Piece entitled "Dream Big"
 Reagan's beautiful piece of art
 Bennett's awesome Abstract Dream piece
 Elle's Visual Arts piece
Elle's Photography entry

They did the Ribbons by grade again this year.  Ellery won 2nd place in her grade for Musical Composition, and 2nd place in her grade for Photography.  I think she would have loved a 1st Place ribbon, but I was through the moon for her with her two ribbons.  Then it was time for the Visual Arts category, which always is the most competitive because it has the most entries by far.  Our sweet Reagan received the Honorable Mention award, so they called her name and she got to go up on stage and get a ribbon and certificate.  She was thrilled, and so was I!

Reagan loved being up there with her buddy Nayra, and was thrilled that they both got Honorable Mentions and thus had the same color ribbon.

Greta took these darling pictures of Reagan and Nayra showing off their art work.  Such cute friends.

Love this picture Greta took of my three Settles Bridge Stars. Such good kids.  So proud of them.
