All in all, Summer 2013 was great. June was fun and busy with swim team and play dates, and then July in Utah was so much fun. Our one week of August was busy and productive, and now summer is over. Back to school for the Miller kids.

Back in Georgia
We had about a week a half back in Georgia before the kids went back to school. It was a busy time as we fit in well-checks and dentist appointments and school supply shopping and a few play dates and general errands as well as unpacking and getting settled after being gone from our home for over a month. We did pack in a little fun though. The kids earned free tickets to Six Flags over Georgia by doing some reading this last school year, and they wanted to use them before they expired. So Sam took the last Friday of the summer off of work and took the three big kids to Six Flags while Campbell and Cal and I got to hang out with Aunt Jenny for the day. We took her out to lunch to celebrate her approaching birthday, and then hung out at her home for a bit. It was a fun day for all of us (except maybe Sam -- so glad it was him at Six Flags with the kids and not me!).
With August comes cheerleading and football starting back up. Elle and Bennett are both participating again through Sharon Springs. Elle had her cheer clinic at South Forsyth High School. There isn't a group of church girls cheering this year like there was last year, but she is on a team with buddies from school which is fun. Cutest cheerleader I know, hands down (and supportive sisters who wish they were cheering too, but having the two oldest participating is about all we can handle for now).
One big project we got done before school started was we de-junked and organized the big kids rooms. We filled up an entire big garbage can outside with all the stuff we threw away from the two big kids rooms, and it feels good to start the new school year with things somewhat under control.
The last day of summer we were scheduled to go to the neighborhood pool with all our school friends for one last pool bash. But it was the rainiest day of the year. Seriously. It rained and rained and rained all day, with no sign of stopping. So we did the next best thing and went outside and played in the rain. And then in the afternoon, when the rain had finally lightened up a bit, I took the kids to the mall and let them each pick out something new for the first day of school. Not exactly Plan A, but an acceptable Plan B I think.
